Ademola Daniel Babafemi (born July 12, 1993), popularly known as Demola the Violinist or Demola, is a Nigerian-born multi-genre violinist, Afro-pop musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer. As a violinist he is known for blending a vibrant mix of musical styles, including Afrobeats, reggae, pop, R&B, jazz and hip hop. He is best known for playing the violin, but he also plays the keyboard, guitar, viola, djembe, mandolin, ukulele, and conga. Background Demola was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. In June 2019, he released "Put It On Me" which was a one-take freestyle recording. In 2019, during a filming of the American television series "No Passport Required," he was playing the violin when chef-host Marcus Samuelsson referred to him and spoke about the importance of the local culture. The episode focused on the local West African community in Houston, Texas. In September 2019, he released the single “Gbedu,” on the Track Record Entertainment label. Gbedu translates to "big drum" (or "party/song" depending on how it's used), and features Afrobeats star, Davido. It's a blend of Afro-pop and violin. Both performers sing. Demola produced the beat and plays the violin on the record. The video was directed by Moe Musa. Michael Kay (CEO of Track Record Entertainment) came up with the concept. As the storyline suggests, the violinist spends a day in Atlanta before his performance in a club and the cameras follow him. Demola is known for creating violin cover versions of popular songs that go viral. In November 2019, his cover of "Return of the Mack," went viral on social media, generating millions of views on Facebook, Instagram, and other sites. In May 2021 he released “Classics with Demola" Vol.1. This is a 14-track-over album that includes his viral covers of hit R&B and hip hop songs of the 1990s and early 2000s including "Dilemma," "Killing Me Softly," and "Return of the Mac." From 2018 to 2019 he was represented by Mathew Knowles.
