Demo One

Demo One is the first set of demo recordings by English punk / rock band Sounds of Swami. These early songs by the band were recorded on a protable 16-Track recorder in their rehearsal room. The demo was originally meant to be six tracks long, but after recording the basic tracks music quicker than expected, the band ran through one take of Machine Gun Etiquette by The Damned (taken from an album of the same name) that they had been playing live around the time. The cover became a live favourite and since copies were made solely to get more gigs; the track was left on. Two versions of the demo were made; Version #1 featured 7 tracks by the original line-up, version #2 removed 'Psychedelic Suggestions' and 'Pushing Papers'. Following the departure of Will Quinn, the band continued to write as a three-piece and recorded 'Political Politeness' for inclusion on version #2 the demo.
