Delta Iota Epsilon (ΔΙΕ) is a fraternity founded in 1989 at Frostburg State University. It was started by a group of four friends that believed friendship should be free. The idea quickly took hold in Frostburg and membership grew to forty within two years, and upwards thereafter.
ΔΙΕ has become known by many as "the anti-fraternity" because of its lack of annual dues and extremely mild hazing when compared to the humiliation subjected on pledges in some other fraternities. The organization's focus has always been on friendship, brotherhood and acceptance.
