Deepak Singhal (born 21 January 1959) was Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India from 2015 to 2019. He took over charge from K K Vohra on 1st November 2015. He is currently an independent director of IDBI Bank. Early life and education Deepak Singhal was born on 21st January 1959. He went to University of Allahabad for his bachelor’s degree in Economics. He has also a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from Jaipur, besides being a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. Singhal has spoken for sustainable and scalable financial inclusion, and took several initiatives for easier KYC norms for pushing financial inclusion in Mission Mode. In 2016 he was one of the contenders for the post of RBI Deputy Governor, but Viral Acharya was selected for the post by Government of India. He was instrumental in releasing of guidelines for Basel III implementation in India.
