Michael P. Waddell is an American Professional Sports Executive, and the current President of the Orlando Apollos. Waddell came to Orlando following a two-year sting as Vice President at Richmond Raceway in NASCAR from 2016-2018. He previously spent 28 years in college athletics, having served as the athletic director at Towson University from 2010-2013. Waddell also served in executive positions in the Athletics Departments at the University of Illinois from 2014-2016, the University of Arkansas from 2013-2014, the University of Cincinnati from 2006-2010, and the University of Akron from 2001-2006. Waddell began his career in college athletics as a radio/television broadcaster at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1991-1994, University of Virginia from 1994-1997, Appalachian State University from 1997-2000, and the United States Military Academy at West Point from 2000-2001. Early life, Education and Family Waddell was born in Hickory, NC and graduated from The Asheville School in 1988. He earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Guilford College in 1991, and his master's degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University in 2010. Waddell is married to the former Heidi Meroth from Abington, MA, and has two adult children.
