Deepak Dhar (producer)

Deepak Dhar is an Indian television producer and founder-CEO of Banijay Asia. Prior to this, Dhar worked Endemol as Managing Director and later as CEO. Deepak Dhar is credited for introducing reality shows to Indian television and shows like Bigg Boss, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Master Chef India and Khatron Ke Khiladi.
Early life and career
Deepak was born to Kashmiri Pandit parents in Hyderabad. He moved to Mumbai at the age of 10 and did his engineering. During his final year, he started working with a friend's production house. After that, he joined the Prime Sports (now known as Start Sports) production team that was broadcasting cricket world cup in India. He was absorbed by Star TV as a production assistant and later joined MTV. After five years at MTV, Deepak joined Channel V and got into directing a show called Channel V Jammin. Owing to that, Dhar got the opportunity to direct Popstars. He then worked for Channel Star One and introduced The Great Indian Laughter challenge. Deepak Dhar started with Endemol as creative director in 2006. He served as Managing Director in 2008 and then as CEO since 2015.
