In 2008, Deborah Regal was appointed as an Independent Member of the Metropolitan Police Authority, then chaired by London Mayor Boris Johnson. She resigned in March 2010. In November 2008, Deborah was named by the Attorney General as a Pro Bono hero for her legal charity services work . Over many years, she has campaigned to provide access to justice proposing legal reforms and actively volunteering for a wide range of projects as a means of raising awareness She is also an editorial board advisor to the International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management, published by Emerald, a leading British academic publisher. .
