Dean Boehler

Dean Edward Boehler is
a Republican Party candidate for the Colorado Senate's 6th District in 2010. A late entry into the race, Boehler declared his candidacy less than two months before the District Assembly. At the Republican District Assembly in Ridgeway, CO on April 17, Boehler received 67% of the delegate votes, giving him top ballot placement over his primary opponent, Ellen Roberts. The 6th District's current senator is Bruce Whitehead, a civil engineer appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter.
Whitehead is seeking to hold his seat in the District in the 2010 election. This is a key race in Colorado as Republicans have targeted it as a likely take-over seat in November.
Biography
Boehler was born August 18, 1953 in California. He was raised in the Central Valley of California and attended college at California State University, Bakersfield where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1980. He moved to Colorado in 1976 to manage the San Miguel Guest Ranch in San Miguel County, Colorado but went back to California for a short period to complete his degree at CSUB before settling back in Colorado. In 1981 he began working as a San Miguel County Sheriff's Deputy. In February, 1982 he was certified as a Colorado Law Officer through Eckert Police Academy. Boehler graduated at the top of his class and served as class vice-president while at the academy. He later worked for the Telluride Marshall's Office and as the Norwood Town Marshal. In 1993 Boehler and his family moved to Russia at the invitation of the Moscow Department of Education. While there, he and his family provided humanitarian aid and taught English to orphans. He returned from his final stint there in 1996. Boehler received congressional recognition for his efforts while in Russia.Boehler has owned his own construction business, DB Construction, for over 12 years. He is married to his wife of 33 years, Stacy. They have two children and eleven grandchildren.
