De Novo Software is a software company that provides software for analyzing data generated by flow cytometry. Development on their chief product, FCS Express, began in 1998 by Dr. David Novo. Dr. Novo, who was then working in the field of flow cytometry at Dr. Howard Shapiro’s laboratory, began creating it to address the lack of commercial flow cytometry data analysis products available on the Microsoft Windows platform. The first version of FCS Express was made available in 1999 through De Novo Software Inc, based in Thornhill, Canada. FCS Express, currently in version 3, is still sold from De Novo Software Inc. Current development is led by Dr. Novo and his team of programmers, analysts and graphic designers in De Novo Software LLC, based in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to university researchers and pharmaceutical development teams, De Novo Software currently provides software for many clinical reference labs offering diagnostic services to doctors and hospitals throughout the United States.
