History
Resource Anesthesiology Associates, PC, was founded in 1996 by anesthesiologists Marc Koch, MD, MBA, and Robert C. Goldstein, MD, as an office-based ambulatory anesthesia practice that also offered other anesthesia-related services, such as operating room consultation and management, chronic pain, and addiction medicine. It was the first office-based anesthesia services practice to be accredited by the .
Later, the company changed its name to Somnia, Inc., or Somnia Anesthesia , focusing on full management solutions for hospital, ambulatory, and office-based practices. The company also produces webinars, publishes white papers and resource documents, and has a first-of-its-kind web-based app that that can be used to evaluate a hospital’s anesthesia services.
Awards and Achievements
In 2011, Somnia received was named a by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and it is the first anesthesia-only management company to achieve this distinction.

Somnia currently manages anesthesia teams in fourteen states across the United States.
