David J. Burton

David John Burton (born 7 April 1963) is an insurance and Internet entrepreneur from Manchester, England. He is the founder of Blackfriars Group and CEO of Blackfriars Group Ltd, Blackfriars Insurance Brokers Ltd, and Prime Mover Underwriting Ltd.
Early life
Born in Urmston a suburb of Manchester, Burton was educated at Urmston County Primary School and at Urmston Grammar School.
His mother Jean Lea and father Jack Burton were married in 1958, and Burton was the middle of three children. His older brother, His mother Jean Lea and father Jack Burton were married in 1958, and David was the middle of three children, an elder brother, Mark David (born 5 May 1961)and Karen Lynda (born 3 March 1967)
Early career
Leaving school at 17 with the full support of the teaching staff at school, he commenced employment with the Prudential Assurance Company Ltd (Prudential plc) where he was employed in various aspects of commercial insurance underwriting until his departure from the company in 1992, having earlier qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. During this time, Burton learned to experiment with early personal computers and became involved in the development of internet web sites as early as 1996. Self taught and still in full time employment in the insurance industry.
Blackfriars
In 1992 Burton joined a small insurance broker (Blackfriars Insurance Brokers Ltd) in Sandbach, Cheshire. Blackfriars Insurance Brokers Ltd is a general insurance firm, which was aligned with a larger financial services company, Blackfriars Financial Services Ltd at the time. In the mid 1990s, as the UK insurance market changed dramatically, Burton was engaged in a number of pioneering insurance schemes with mixed results. The first web sites for the Blackfriars Group organizations were posted in 1998, at the time an early entry into the World Wide Web.
In recent years, with the expansion of insurance services on the internet and the willingness of members of the public to transact their insurance business in this way, Burton has continued to innovate and expand new product ranges and moved into both Internet marketing and search engine and directory technology.
Burton launched Prime Mover Underwriting Ltd in 2008.
Family
Burton is married to Christina Jane Rachel Burton (born 20 September 1970). They have two children, Amelia Rose (born 6 October 2000) and Olivia Jean (born 30 November 2008)and two children from a former marriage,Victoria Anne (born 29 June 1989), Alexandra Jane (born 17 July 1992), They currently live in Flixton.
