David Hocking

David Hocking, a Christian Bible teacher, was born in Long Beach, California in 1941, and raised in Southern California. David Hocking is an Evangelical Bible teacher in the United States.
Education
David Hocking received B.A. in Bible (Minor-Greek) from Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC); a M.Div. from Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, IN. and D.Min. from Grace Graduate School, and Ph.D. from California Graduate School of Theology. and Doctor of Laws degree from Biola University.
Pastoral Ministry
During the 1970s, Hocking was the Senior Pastor of the Grace Brethren Church, which is located in Long Beach, CA. From 1982 to 1992 he was the Senior pastor of Calvary Church of Santa Ana (not to be confused with any of the Calvary Chapels). He gained a following as the host of the Biola Hour radio show. Hocking was noted for his dynamic in depth expository Bible teaching.
David has been preaching and teaching the Bible for over 50 years and has taught courses in Bible, Theology, Biblical Languages and Expository Preaching in colleges as well as in graduate schools. His radio Bible teaching began in 1970 and has included such programs as Sounds of Grace, The Biola Hour, Solid Rock, and for the last 13 years - Hope for Today. David has served as pastor in Columbus, Ohio, Long Beach, California, and Santa Ana, California. He has written over 35 books.
David has focused in his ministry upon Bible Prophecy, especially as it relates to God's plan for Israel.
He currently has a broadcast called Hope for Today which airs all over the world. Hope For Today Aired In 1989.
He also provides free college level Bible courses at Blue Letter Bible Institute.
Hyatt Hotel Incident
David Hocking was staying at the East Jerusalem Hyatt hotel, on October 17, 2001, across from the hotel room where Rehavam Zeevi, Israeli Minister of Tourism, was staying, when Zeevi was assassinated by PFLP terrorists. Hocking was quoted in the BBC news as having heard a thump, and screams from Zeevi's wife. Hocking then rushed to assist Mr. Zeevi, however, he was already dead.
Current Ministry
Hocking continues to minister through his Hope for Today Ministries located in Southern California, and visits several churches as a guest speaker throughout the year. See the Hope for Today Ministries online schedule for times and locations.
