David Choi (b. 1989, Orange County, California)is a singer and YouTube personality, who is ranked as the 11th most subscribed YouTube user.
When Choi was five, both of his parents opened a music store. Yet, it wasn't until he was in high school when he decided to do his own music. In an interview with SongwriterUniverse Magazine, Choi stated:
"When I was 16, there was a kid who made a song and showed it in class. It inspired me to try writing songs, too. I got a Yamaha keyboard, and I started writing instrumentals first, then full songs. I also started reading about recording and producers, and began studying other people's songs."
After befriending a professional lyricist, Andrea Cremmins, both started to callborate their work. After a well-received video of his version of Put Your Records On, Choi started to perform either covered or original songs.
Over time on YouTube, Choi has become famous for not smiling in any videos, in his videos or someone else's, which having many fans asking him to smile. In a humorous video on Choi's account about him not smiling at all, which co-starred fellow YouTuber, , called Making David Choi Smile with HappySlip , HappySlip "tries" to make Choi smile. Choi had stated on his YouTube account that he will smile on camera once he reaches 77,777 subscribers.
