David Catterall

David Catterall (born 20th of February, 1964) is a Queensland hotel & tourism industry executive. He is currently the Managing Director of Best Management Group.. He has been involved with the management of 89 hotels around Australia, and was also involved in the development of Sunlover Holidays. Tourism

David is Managing Director of Best Management Group which specialises in hotels, resorts and tourism. Early in his consulting career, David was involved in the development of the You'll Never Never Know Northern Territory campaign in 1992, which originally featured Daryl Somers from Hey Hey it's Saturday. The campaign proved to be one of the most successful and enduring tourism and marketing campaigns in Australia's history. The campaign was a consequence of the "The Way Ahead" other wise known as the Kennedy Review, commissioned by Marshall Perron government and authored by prominent businessman Mr. Jim Kennedy O.B.E. Praise for the success of this campaign and the associated restructure of the Northern Territory was recored in government Hansard (NORTHERN TERRITORY GOVERNMENT HANSARD 1992

David was the principal management consultant responsible for the marketing launch of Twin Towns Resort at Tweed Heads on the Gold Coast in 1999. The development was completed by the Twin Towns RSL.

In 1999, David was responsible for the branding of Reef HQ, for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. This tourism attraction developed in 1988 had previouslybeen known as Townsville Aquarium (?).

He was a member of the judging panel of the Australian Tourism Awards (2004-2005) and Queensland Tourism Awards (2003 - 2005).

David was a director of QANTAS Founders Ltd. from 2003 - 2005.

David makes regular speaking appearances at major hotel industry events including the 2007 Horwath ANZPHIC Conference in Sydney,Australia.

Best Management Group

In 1999 he established Best Management Group, a leading tourism management and consulting firm.. The company manages The Point Brisbane, a leading boutique 4.5 star hotel at Kangaroo Point. The Hotel was recognised at the 2007 Queensland Tourism Awards with a business excellence award. The Point Hotel was the first hotel in Australia to offer guests an empty bucket to capture excess shower water for recycling.

Domain Resorts

David established Domain Resorts for Consolidated properties and in 2005. This chain of resorts includes the 600 acre Casuarina Beach resort development, now partly completed, and on track to become the largest resort in Australia, with over 1000 rooms .

Entertainment
Status Quo
David has organised major Australian tours (2000, 2003, and 2006) for british rock legends Status Quo, and Best Management continues to represent their interests in Australia. Recognition for David's contribution to the success of the band has been documented in the sleeve notes of recent album releases including In Search of the Fourth Chord, The Party Ain't Over Yet, Riffs, Excess All Areas and Heavy Traffic.

The PartyStarters
He also is the guitarist in popular covers music band, the PartyStarters, which formed in 2000 as an artistic charitable pursuit. The band regularly performs at live venues and corporate events.Through the Party Starters, David has given to various charities, assisting in fundraising events including Corporate Countdown (2003) at the Hordern Pavilion, and Boardroom Blitz (2003) at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Their appearance at the Centenary Rocks Festival on 27 July, 2008 was their third appearance at this event.

He has also been involved with other bands.

INXS
David appeared in a 2006 documentary on INXS produced by Murdo McRae.

TWENTYSEVENS
David is credited on liner notes of the 2008 album by twentysevens "Sex, Politics & Religion". www.twentysevens.com . This band toured the UK with Status Quo in 2006.
