David Broll (born January 4, 1993) is a Canadian ice hockey player currently playing for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League). Prior to the Greyhounds, Broll played for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. He was selected 152nd overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. Broll will be returning to the Soo Greyhounds this fall after the Leafs’ training camp. Playing career Junior David Broll started his hockey career with the Toronto Young Nationals (Midget AAA), where he scored 57 points, 31 goals and 26 assists. In the 2009 Ontario Hockey League Priority Draft, the Erie Otters selected Broll in the first round, 10th overall. In his rookie season, he scored 9 goals and 9 assists and finished at -10 with 42 PMs. In his second season with the Otters, Broll scored 8 goals and 14 assists in 41 games before he was traded to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. With the Greyhounds, Broll finished the 09-10 season recording 5 goals and 7 assists.<ref name="mapleleafs" /><ref name="hockeysfuture" /> Professional The Toronto Maple Leafs selected David Broll in the 6th round (152nd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In the 2011-2012 season, Broll was called up from the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds to play for the Toronto Marlies, AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Broll racked up five games with the Marlies, two of those being in the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs. He recorded no goals and no assists, finishing -1 with 5 PIM.<ref name="mapleleafs" /><ref name="hockeysfuture" /> International In 2010, Broll played for Team Ontario in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. In six games, he had 2 assists, and 14 PMs. The team went on to win the silver medal. He was also invited to Team Canada’s under 20 tryout camp.<ref name="mapleleafs" /><ref name="hockeysfuture" />
