Dark Project is an alternative rock band from Kolkata (Calcutta), India operating primarily on DIY philosophy. The band was established by school friends Sauvik Biswas and Sudipto Biswas in 2003 when they were in their early years of college. Band members realised their dream by arranging basic instruments and recording an EP - Chaos Sessions. As an Indian band it gathered maximum number of listens on last.fm and CBS' online radio station, and managed listeners in excess of 4000 and play counts in excess of 16000 as of April 2009. In addition to this, the band was able to sell out the first 1000 CDs in India in a short span of time without any investments made on publicity. Band released their 2nd album named Liberty & Entropy in 2009.
