Dark Matter Transfer

Dark Matter Transfer (DMT) are a rock / metal band from Southend on Sea, Essex in the UK. DMT is made up from member of present and previous bands such as Gigan, X&Y, SiZE and My Pet Monkey.

Dark Matter Transfer were formed in 2006 by guitarist Gary Sackman, who approached Dave Smith to become second guitarist. Gary had previously played percussion in local metal band SiZE and Dave was a competant guitarist and bass player. Rehearsing at Maple Studios, Dave's brother initially played drums to allow the early riffs to be heard with a beat. After a short few sessions, My Pet Monkey drummer William Evans was then enlisted to fill in drums until a permanent drummer was found. However, Will remained in the band and is their permanent drummer to date.

Weeks later, Gary approached My Pet Monkey bass player Tom to fill in the remaining vacant musical post within the band and DMT's first lineup was complete. The band rehearsed and wrote music for almost a year before Robbie Sibthorpe was enlisted as a singer. Having worked with Gary in a number of projects before, Robbie brought great singing ability to the band, as well as developing the screaming / growling approach suited to modern metal. This mix gave the band an unusual dynamic in most local metal bands.

In summer 2007, DMT recorded thier first 3-track self-titled demo. The tracks encluded were 'Wasted Martyr', 'Seraphim' and 'Bodies of our Enemys'. All three tracks are available on their myspace page, .

In May 2007, DMT parted company with vocalist Robbie and bassist Tom. They are currently looking for suitable replacements.
