Daniel J. Reiman

Daniel J. Reiman is an American Democratic party politician, who has served as the Mayor of the Borough of Carteret, New Jersey since 2003. Reiman, 34, is in his eigth year as the Mayor of the Borough of Carteret.
Mayor Reiman was elected to his first term in 2002 by defeating incumbent James Failace. Reiman became the youngest Mayor in the history of the town when he was sworn in by then Congressman Bob Menendez on January 1, 2003.

Political career
Early positions
Prior to being elected Mayor, Reiman served as a Borough Councilman, a Planning Board member from 1999-2003, and on various other committees and municipal agencies. Reiman was re-elected as Mayor in November of 2006 with 85% of the vote, and was sworn in to his second term by United States Senator Bob Menendez on January 7, 2007. In 2010, Reiman won a third term by securing 71% of the vote in that year's election and was sworn in by New Jersey State Senator Joseph Vitale on January 2nd, 2011.
Mayorship
Mayor Reiman serves in a full-time capacity as the Borough's Chief Executive Officer, while overseeing 190 full-time employees and a $38.5 million dollar annual budget. As the town’s chief executive officer, he heads the Administration, which is comprised of thirteen departments, including; Administration, Personnel, Purchasing, Finance, Tax Collection and Economic and Community Development. He oversees the Borough’s operations and policies through the department directors and is responsible for the preparation of the Borough’s annual operating budget and all labor contract negotiations and Redevelopment agreements.
Future positions
Reiman has been mentioned as a possible candidate for numerous positions, including State Senate and Assembly representing the 13th legislative district, which Carteret belongs to.
