Dakoha Sadaat

The word Saadat refers to a family that claims to be the descendant of Ali ibn Abi Talib and Fatimah bint-e-Muhammad. Many individuals around the world relate themselves to a Saadat in order to prove that they are an authentic Syed (a person that traces his lineage to Bani Hashim, through one of the 11 Imams). There are many different types of Syeds; since there are (successors of Muhammad ibn Abdullah), out of those 12 Imams, only 11 were married (1 Imam is in occultation, Muhammad ibn Hassan Al-Mahdi), therefore, there are 11 types of Syeds. The population of Syeds in the world is estimated to be 14 million. There are also many different types of Saadats, since a Saadat tends to identify itself by the land in which it used to reside before the partition of Hindustan. However, this article only contains information about the Sadaat of Dakoha (Also stated as, Dakoha Sadaat). It is widely believed that Dakoha Sadaat are the authentic descendants of Imam Ali Al-Naqi (the 10th successor of Muhammad ibn Abdullah), so the Dakoha Sadaat are Naqvi Syeds. Sadaat of Dakoha also relate themselves to Hazrat Meeran Khas, a Muslim saint who was invited to Hindustan (from Termez, Uzbekistan) by the leader of the Loodhi tribe.

Before the Partition of 1947
The Sadaat of Dakoha used to reside in the town of Dakoha, Jalandhar, Punjab, India before Hindustan was divided into Pakistan and India in 1947. The Dakoha Sadaat lived near the Rama Mandi and the phatak (railway crossing) of the Jalandhar Cantt Station. Muhammad Anwar, a member of the Dakoha Sadaat, owned a massive piece of land in Dakoha. He was a well known landlord and is also credited for constructing five wells (Awean waala khoo, Bawean waala Khoo, Chamaran waala khoo, Mengran waala khoo, School waala khoo) for the people that resided in and around Dakoha.
After the Partition of 1947
When the unfortunate partition took place in 1947, the Dakoha Sadaat had to relocate to Pakistan. Initially, they settled in Korian (a village in Punjab) but eventually moved to Lahore in 1956. The Sadaat Colony of Samanabad was created by the members of the Dakoha Sadaat. However, the descendants of Muhammad Anwar (through his son Tasaddaq) reside in Gulberg II, Lahore.
