D.C. Rhind

David C. Rhind is a Canadian fantasy writer. His work falls into the areas of fantasy, adventure, and (in the case of his Samurai series), mystery involving vampires.
Overview
D.C. Rhind has written seven novels, beginning with his Calebra series, set in a fantasy world where a crystalline element, landia, can give mortals wizard’s powers. The warriors are martial arts experts wielding samurai swords, while the wizards have their magic firmly rooted in scientific principles. Sorcerers, wizards who use their powers to summon and control spirits and demons from other dimensions, are regarded as evil.
After writing five novels in this series, David turned his attention to a new series involving Michael Cameron, a former science teacher and martial arts instructor who has been approached by a former colleague of this father’s to help kill vampires. In this series, vampires have been coexisting with humans as normal, functional members of society (who can only work the night shift). Those who prey on humans are considered as being serial killers. Michael’s mentor is a two hundred-year-old vampire who has worked with Scotland Yard, MI6, and now consults with Interpol. Michael himself ends up working as a special agent for Canada’s spy agency, CSIS, code-named Samurai.
