Courtney Meppen-Walter is a professional footballer from Bury, England, a starlet of the Manchester City Youth Academy. He plays centre back and was recognised as showing great potential, having been capped for both England under-17s & England under-18s, where he captained both national teams. International Career The Manchester City player first broke into England contention in 2010 when he was selected for the U17 side which travelled to the Nordic Tournament in August. A versatile player who can fill in both midfield and defensive duties became a regular for manager John Peacock over the course of the 2010-11 campaign and was called into the squad for the European U17 Championship Finals in Serbia. Meppen-Walter was captain of England Under 18s. Personal Life Meppen-Walter was sentenced to a 16-month jail term for causing the deaths of two people in a car crash in 2012: Meppen-Walter was driving 52 mph in a 30 mp zone when he ploughed his Mercedes into another car. In 2013 Meppen-Walter was released after serving only 4 months of his sentence, however there was an error in the prison system, so he returned to prison to finish the rest of his sentence.
