Councillors of City of Glen Eira

The City of Glen Eira is a local government area in the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria. It was formed in 1994 with the amalgamation of the City of Caulfield and the City of Moorabbin.

Councillors
David Feldman
Cr. David Feldman was the Mayor of the Glen Eira City Council in Melbourne, Australia for 2006. On 14th December 2006, Feldman was elected the first Deputy Mayor for the Glen Eira City Council for 2007. He was elected into Tucker Ward in November 2005. He received a primary vote of 4,951 votes out of 22,022 formal votes. Consequently he was elected Mayor of Glen Eira. He previously ran for Mackie Ward in March 2003 Glen Eira elections but only received 508 primary votes out of 21,868 formal votes.

Prior to being elected to Council, Feldman worked as an IT Manager with experience in local government, regional Victoria and the United States. Feldman was a former president of the Ratepayers' Association of Glen Eira (RAGE) Inc.

He has Graduate Certificate of Management and is studying for a Masters in Management and Certificate in Business Administration. Feldman is also a volunteer with the CFA.

Feldman went to school at Melbourne Boys High School and graduated in 1993.

Nick Staikos
Nick Staikos is a councillor of the Glen Eira City Council. He was elected into Tucker Ward in November 2005. Staikos is the Moorabbin Branch President of the Australian Labor Party and a delegate to Victorian Young Labor Conference.

Staikos is the youngest elected Glen Eira City Councillor. Staikos is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University with Politics and Sociology as his majors.

Kate Ashmor
Kate Ashmor is a councillor of the Glen Eira City Council. She was elected into Tucker Ward in November 2005. Ashmor received 1,534 primary votes out of a possible 22,022 formal votes (6.97%), and after preferences was elected third for Tucker Ward.

Steven Tang
Cr. Steven Tang (Simplified Chinese:é‚“æ–‡å¨?; Traditional Chinese:é„§æ–‡å¨?; pronounced Deng Wenwei) is a Glen Eira City Councillor in Melbourne, Australia. He was elected second into Rosstown Ward in November 2005. He received a primary vote of 2,276 votes out of 20,970 formal votes (10.85%).

Tang was a member of the executive of the Australiasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) and was a student at McKinnon Primary School and McKinnon Secondary College. Tang is a long-term resident of Glen Eira, living in the suburbs of East Bentleigh and Carnegie.

Robert Spaulding
Cr. Robert Spaulding is a Glen Eira City Councillor in Melbourne, Australia. She was elected third into Rosstown Ward in November 2005. He received a primary vote of 2,413 votes out of 20,970 formal votes (11.51%).

Spaulding has lived in Glen Eira since 1953. He is a father of five and runs a local advertising business in Glen Eira for more than 30 years. Spaulding has life membership in the Murrumbeena Football Club and the Southern Football League. He has also been a member of the Murrumbeena Park Trust, where he stood once as Treasurer, and in 2003, received a Certificate of Appreciation for Service to the Community from the Glen Eira City Council.

Jacquie Robbilliard
Cr. Jacquie Robilliard is a Glen Eira City Councillor in Melbourne, Australia. She was elected third into Camden Ward in November 2005. She received a primary vote of 1,688 votes out of 18,376 formal votes (9.19%).

Robilliard is an active member of the Glen Eira Residents' Action Group. She has lived in Elsternwick, Victoria since 1982 and is married with two adult children. Robilliard was a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, has a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Education. Since 1994, Robilliard has been a Disability Liaison Officer for higher education students. Her hobbies are walking, reading and bike riding.

Helen Whiteside
Cr. Helen Whiteside (born 1949). Whiteside is a Glen Eira City Council City Councillor in Melbourne, Australia. She was elected second into Camden Ward in November 2005. She received a primary vote of 2,224 votes out of 18,376 formal votes (12.10%).

Whiteside is a non-practicing NSW registered nurse, who is married with five children and four grandchildren. She has lived in her ward for a decade and is now involved in community work, part-time real estate. Whiteside's issues in Glen Eira are inappropriate development.

Noel Erlich

Noel Erlich was an Orrong Ward councillor of the Glen Eira City Council and the Old Caulfield City Council. In 2000, Erlich received 3,467 primary of a possible 19,629 formal votes (17.66%). Erlich was third to be elected to Orrong Ward. Erlich was mayor for the Glen Eira City Council in 2001.

Likewise in the March 2003 Glen Eira City Council Elections, where Erlich was also elected in third place for Orrong Ward. Erlich received 2,710 primary votes out of a possible 20,058 formal votes (13.51%). During a secret private mayoralty ballot in 2004, Erlich voted for Jamie Hyams to be the next mayor of Glen Eira. On the night of the actual mayoralty vote, Erlich changed his from Hyams to Bob Bury, and as a consequence Bob Bury was elected the Mayor of Glen Eira for 2004.

Erlich was one of the nine councillors sacked by the Victorian Local Government Minister in August 2005. Erlich was quoted to say that he fully supported the State Government's sacking of the Glen Eira City Council. He with another three sacked councillors chose to run again for council in the 2005 Glen Eira elections (this time in Rosstown Ward). Erlich was not elected and received less than 4% of the primary vote. Erlich received 791 primary votes out of 23,239 formal votes which accounted for 3.40% of the vote.

Alan Grossbard JP
Alan Grossbard (born Alain Maurice Grossbard) was Glen Eira City Council's first ever Mayor. Grossbard served as a councillor in the Old City of Caulfield and Orrong Ward in the City of Glen Eira from 1997 until 2005. He is a Justice of Peace. Grossbard has been spokesperson for Alinta and TXU energy and TRU energy.

In 2000, Grossbard received 8,109 primary of a possible 19,629 formal votes (41.31%). Grossbard was first to be elected to Orrong Ward. Likewise in the March 2003 Glen Eira City Council Elections, where Grossbard was also elected in first place for Orrong Ward. Grossbard received 4,647 primary votes out of a possible 20,058 formal votes (23.17%). In 2000, Grossbard received 8,109 primary of a possible 19,629 formal votes (41.31%). Grossbard was first to be elected to Orrong Ward. Likewise in the March 2003 Glen Eira City Council Elections, where Grossbard was also elected in first place for Orrong Ward. Grossbard was alleged to have been assaulted by fellow Glen Eira councillor Noel Erlich within the Council Chambers. Grossbard was one of the nine councillors sacked by the Victorian Local Government Minister in August 2005.

Dorothy Marwick
Dorothy Marwick was an Orrong Ward councillor of the Glen Eira City Council. In 2000, Marwick received 2,287 primary of a possible 19,629 formal votes (11.65%). Marwick was second to be elected to Orrong Ward. Likewise in the March 2003 Glen Eira City Council Elections, where Marwick was also elected in second place for Orrong Ward. Marwick received 2,033 primary votes out of a possible 20,058 formal votes (10.14%). Consequently, she was mayor for the Glen Eira City Council in 2003.

Marwick was one of the nine councillors sacked by the Victorian Local Government Minister in August 2005. Marwick was one of the five councillors who chose not to contest the 2005 Glen Eira City Council Elections after the sacking of the Glen Eira City Council.

Peter Goudge JP
Peter Goudge was a Glen Eira City Councillor from 2000 until he was sacked in 2005. Goudge was elected 3rd for Mackie Ward in 2000 Glen Eira City Council Elections. He received 4,028 primary votes out of 22,619 formal votes. In 2003, he was elected third again for Mackie Ward in Glen Eira City Council Elections. He received 2,123 primary votes out of 21,868 formal votes.

In 1983, Goudge ran as a Liberal candidate for Gellibrand against Labor MP Ralph Willis. Goudge got 21.0% of the primary votes (14,120 formal votes), and received 27.0% on a two-party preferred basis (18,203 formal votes). In 2002, Goudge ran as the Liberal Candidate for Oakleigh in the November 2002 State Election. He received 9,754 primary votes of 31,335 formal votes. This resulted in a 31.13% primary vote for the Liberals. On a two-party preferred, Goudge received 34.79% of the vote (10,902 votes).

In August 2005, Goudge was one of the nine Glen Eira councillors who were sacked by the Victorian Minister for Local Government.

Rachelle Sapir
Rachelle Sapir was a Glen Eira City Councillor from 2000 until 2005. Sapir was elected 3rd for Jasper Ward in 2000 Glen Eira City Council Elections. She received 910 primary votes out of 19,669 formal votes. In 2003, she was elected second for Mackie Ward in Glen Eira City Council elections. She received 1,287 primary votes out of 21,868 formal votes.

In 2002, Sapir ran as the ALP Candidate for Brighton in the November 2002 State Election. She received 9,926 primary votes of 32,136 formal votes. This resulted in a 30.89% primary vote for the ALP. On a two-party preferred, Sapir received 42.59% of the vote (13,686 votes).

In August 2005, Sapir was one of the nine Glen Eira councillors who were dismissed by the Victorian Minister for Local Government.

Bob Bury
Bob Bury was elected to the Glen Eira City Council in Jasper Ward at the March 2003 Council Elections. Bury was elected as mayor of Glen Eira in 2004 due to a controversial vote. Jamie Hyams was to be elected in accordance to a secret ballot; yet Orrong Ward councillor Noel Erlich decided to swap his Hyams secret vote to a Bob Bury public vote. In consequence Bury was official elected as Mayor of Glen Eira. Bury was one of the nine Glen Eira councillors who was sacked by the Local Government Minister of Victoria in 2005. Bury was one of the four sacked councillor who attempted to run again for council in November 2005 Glen Eira Elections for Tucker Ward. Bury was not elected.

Jamie Hyams
Jamie Hyams was a councillor for Jasper Ward in the Glen Eira City Council from 2003 until 2005. Hyams is a Policy Analyst and Staff Writer for the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC).
According to a secret ballot, Hyams was to be elected Mayor of Glen Eira in 2004, however on the night of the actual mayoralty vote, Orrong Ward Councillor Noel Erlich changed his from Hyams to Bob Bury. Therefore Bob Bury was elected Mayor of Glen Eira for 2004. Hyams was one of the nine Glen Eira councillors who was sacked by the Victorian Local Government Minister.

Russell Longmuir
Russell A. Longmuir was a Glen Eira City Council councillor from the council formation in 1997 until 2000. Longmuir did in 2000 ran for Jasper Ward, but failed to get elected. He received 2,825 primary votes of a possible 19,669 formal votes (14.36%). However his wife Mandy Longmuir did run for Jasper Ward in 2003, only receiving 780 primary votes of a possible 20,259 formal votes (3.85%); she was not elected.

Russell and Mandy Longmuir are members of the McKinnon Branch of the Liberal Party of Australia. In 2005, the Longmuirs had executive positions in the Goldstein Federal Electorate Council (Russell was Treasurer and Mandy was Female Vice-Chairman).

David Bloom
David Bloom was a councillor for Jasper Ward in the Glen Eira City Council from 2000 until his election defeat in March 2003. In 2000, Bloom received 1,735 primary votes out of possible 19,669 formal votes (8.82%). Bloom was elected first into Jasper Ward. In 2003, Bloom stood again for re-election and gain 1,994 out of a possible 20,259 formal votes (9.84%). Bloom was not elected to Glen Eira City Council.

Eamonn Walsh
Eamonn Walsh was a Glen Eira councillor for Jasper Ward in the Glen Eira City Council from 2000 until 2003. Walsh received 1,316 primary votes out of 19669 possible formal votes (6.69%). Walsh was elected second to Jasper Ward. Walsh only served one term and choice not to run in the 2003 elections.
