Congress For Tomorrow is a political party running in the Youth Parliamentary Elections of November 2008. History Congress was born from a merger between the Youth Party of Canada and the Independence Party of Canada. In the merger, both parties agreed to keep Chris Erl, leader of Independence and Amanda Monaco, president of Independence on as the leadership team until formal registration and leadership elections could be held. Ideology A party based on the concept of direct democracy, Congress can, arguably, be placed on the left of the political spectrum. Erl has repetedly stated that he prefers people to define Congress acording to it's key philosphies, populism and direct democracy, as opposed to left or right wing. |
