Claire Nicolson

Claire Nicolson (born August 24th 1973) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. She has received acclaim for her 'Sing For Your Supper' idea, in which she tours pubs to sing in exchange for a hot meal. After successfully touring Ireland in this way in summer 2010 she is set to embark on her first UK Sing For Your Supper tour in December, in Cornwall.
Early Life
Nicolson was born in 1973 in Slough and grew up in Turville, Buckinghamshire. She learnt to play the violin and piano at a young age before going on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London for two years before leaving to pursue a less classical vein of music.
Music Career
She has worked with artists from Kula Shaker and Dodgy to Mike Oldfield, Tom Jones, Jools Holland and Melanie C. Her work as a backing singer and musician has seen her tour the world.
She received notable attention for her 'Sing For Your Supper' Tour from The Irish Times and The Sunday Times.
'Toothpaste & Whisky' features Alabama 3 ’s Nick Reynolds on harmonica. It will be the first track to be taken from her forthcoming debut album 52 Card Pick Up, which is due out early 2011.
“Toothpaste & Whisky” has been favourably received by , English born singer, songwriter Ed Harcourt and Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine.
