Cicely Scheiner

Cicely Scheiner is the former vice president of Orlando Chapter of NOW--she spearheaded the campaign to get a Pro-Choice license plate for Florida, one of the first such efforts in the nation. She also worked with NOW as a legislative director. While obtaining her undergraduate degree she planned and organized a take back the night rally at the University of South Florida. Cicely has worked with abused women and children as a child protective investigator, finding homes, services and battling court cases. Cicely Scheiner was a founder of United for Choice, Inc., and has advocated for Homeless rights in her adopted home town of Orlando, Florida. . She was recognized in 2006 for her tireless advocacy on behalf of women's rights.
Cicely Scheiner received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of South Florida. She decided to earn her master's degree in Social Science through the MEd program at UCF. Through her role as graduate assistant for the Library of Congress, Teaching with Primary Sources initiative, she helps provide professional development opportunities for educators, so they can bring more primary sources into their teaching practices. Scheiner plans to graduate in summer 2010.
