History
Susan E. Clarke first came up with the idea for Chronicles of Syntax while studying Theatre at Huddersfield University, where she wrote a pilot for what would be a prospective television series. Wanting to make a series that would appeal to a wide selection of fandoms, Susan envisioned a world that blends post-apocalyptic science fiction, live action anime, massively multiplayer online gaming and furries, as well as drawing inspiration from her own favourite media, such as the works of Joss Whedon, Doctor Who and the Final Fantasy series of video games. it was decided that a trailer should be produced to better sell the show, so a series of auditions were held in order to find a cast capable of both performing the roles and taking on the demanding fight sequences that would be required of them. A nine-month hiatus then followed, resulting in the development of a prequel audio series called Primary Faction, set in present day, with which to promote the main series. Primary Faction was released via YouTube in July 2011. A trailer was then shot near Temple Works in Leeds in August 2011, showing the 18 core characters fighting in a wasteland environment. After response from the global online fanbase, it was decided to develop Primary Faction as a web series to be hosted on YouTube and crowdfunded through Indiegogo. Patrick O'Halloran as Teacher and YouTube comedian Chris Kendall as an as-yet unidentified character, referred to only as ???.
Fight performers for the series are from the Independent Drama ID Fight Unit.
