Youtube career
Philip DeFranco (Better known as sXephil) has been making video's on Youtube since 2006. Since his first video Phil has amassed thousands of fans that watch his videos daily. He is well known as a very kind man with a creative mind, being one of only a few highly popular celebs to actually stay in constant touch with his fans. Phil is a strong activist of the charities for PKD due to his father and later himself being diagnosed. When Phil won the Spore Creature Creater competition (Beating Zack and Cody from the Disney show "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody") the entire winning went to a PKD charity. On the date of June, 6th, 2008 Phil announced in a video that he would no longer be making videos. He had run into a lot of stress in his life and felt like he couldn't and didn't want to continue his work any longer. However on the date of June 10, 2008 during a vacation Phil made another video announcing he was feeling better and the show would continue as normal. Since then Phil's fans have done all they can to keep their favorite Youtuber on the air. On November 3, 2008 Phil announced that his work on Youtube will come to a end in a year from the posting of the video, and that he would change his regular schedule of videos Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and instead would make videos Monday-Friday until his show ends. On November 30th, 2008 Phil became one of only a select few "internet celebs" to be mailed a letter with a DVD and a key leading him to a storage facility nearby containing a silver case. All of this was part of a massive real world promotion for the game F.E.A.R. 2. On December 7, 2008 Phil also gave into his fans wishes and created a forum , which within a week accumulated 1,000 members with atleast 20 members who were active almost all day posting constantly.

Other work
As of October 2008, Phil DeFranco is co-starring with Jessica Rose and Kevin Wu in Hooking Up from HBOLabs (the online arm of HBO), a scripted 10-episode web-based series. Hooking Up is set at a fictional university where the students spend most of their time emailing and twittering, but still manage to miscommunicate. Guest appearances on Hooking Up will be made by Kevin Nalty, Michael Buckley, and other internet celebrities. The entire cast of Hooking Up is composed of YouTube video bloggers in the hope of attracting a young, internet knowledgeable audience. By the show's second day on YouTube, it had received more than 450,000 views. According to NewTeeVee.com, an evolving consensus is that for an online video to be a hit, somewhere between 100,000 and one million views are needed, giving Hooking Up a strong start. while Bobbie Johnson of The Guardian said that many web surfers had "scoffed at what they see as a cynical attempt to cash in."
