Christopher Lastrapes

Christopher Lastrapes (born February 12, 1981) is an award-winning writer, journalist, director and producer. Additionally, he is an expert in the field of leadership development, working with many different programs and initiatives. A native of New Orleans, he is an alumnus of the University of Tulsa and Emory University. His work for the Tulsa World, The Magazine of Sigma Chi, the Financial Times and 20th Century Fox has been cited by many different organizations.
He is a member of American Mensa and the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Early life
Adopted at birth, he grew up in the Algiers neighborhood on the West Bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, before his family moved to the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain to Mandeville. His family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he graduated as valedictorian of Jenks High School, a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award cited school district. He attended the University of Tulsa as a National Merit Scholar attaining two bachelor degrees and later a master's in English.
Journalism career
He was named Oklahoma Collegiate Sportswriter of the Year in 2004 and was honored by the Society of Professional Journalists. He went on to serve as an editor for The Magazine of Sigma Chi, overseeing the magazine's overhaul and re-design with Krissy Claes. During his tenure at the 2006 Fraternity Communications Association awards banquet, the Magazine, as it is informally called, won the Fred Yoder Overall Excellence Award, as well as first place awards in the Greek Life Article and Story Packaging, as well as second place in Cover Design and third place for Annual Report.
He returned to full-time reporting with the Financial Times Group, before earning his MBA from Emory University in Atlanta in 2009.
Film career
His film career began when he developed the concept for a short film centered around the Cornerstone Mentor Initiative for the Sigma Chi Fraternity in 2004. Under the guidance of initiative chairman Jeff Greene, he solicited funding from notable businessman Jesse R. "Bob" Stone to produce the project that would become "Building On Our Brotherhood." He enlisted hall of Fame football player and actor Merlin Olsen to provide narration for the documentary.
He later first joined 20th Century Fox in 2008, working with digital distribution platforms. In 2011, he became a manager of the video section of the PlayStation Store for Sony, marketing film and television.
Personal life
During his senior year of college, he appeared on a fraternity and sorority edition episode of Weakest Link.
In 2011, he was inducted into the WDWNT hall of fame.
