Christian Kupke (born 1959) is a German philosopher and cultural critic. In his interdisciplinary philosophical work he is mainly influenced by Georg W.F. Hegel's system of dialectics, Edmund Husserl's phenomenology as well as the psychoanalytical theories of Jaques Lacan and Julia Kristeva. Life Christian Kupke studied philosophy in Freiburg/Breisgau, Germany and later in Berlin, where he was a student of Ernst Tugendhat and Michael Theunissen. He is associated with Theunissen both in the way of thinking and in the negative-dialectic orientation. Today, Kupke is a senior lecturer at several educational institutions. He lives and works in Berlin. Work As a student Kupke, together with the psychoanalyst, writer and text practitioner Robert Krokowski initiated the avant-garde copy-and-print magazine "Delta Tau" in the 1980s. This magazine applied stylistic elements of Arno Schmidt and James Joyce as well as the language experiments of the late Lacan to ironies the academic philosophy in order to open it to a broadened, experimental understanding of philosophy. In 1994 he jointly with psychiatrists, neuroscientists, psychotherapists and psychoanalysts founded the Association for Philosophy and the Sciences of the Psyche Berlin (Berliner Gesellschaft für Philosophie und Wissenschaften der Psyche e.V. /GPWP). The overall goal is the trans-disciplinary - respectively "hetero-disciplinary" as it is says in the association's mission statement - linking of philosophy with related disciplines. Kupke is the co-editor of the almanac of the GPWP and a regular lecturer at the Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Nerve Medicine (Gesellschaft für Pyschiatrie, Psychotherapie und Nervenheilkunde e.v. /DGPPN). For his research and publication "The Philosophical Problems of Time Psychopathology", Kupke received the DGPPN award for "Philosophy in Psychiatry" in 2008. Kupke is currently a senior lecturer at numerous public and private institutes in Berlin. He organises seminars, speaks at conferences and is a guest lecturer at Berlin's Charité, the Free University of Berlin (FU), the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berli) et.al.
