Christian Faes (born 2 March 1977) is an Australian-born tech entrepreneur and as of 2015 is ranked by City A.M. as one of the most influential people in FinTech. Faes is co-founder and CEO of LendInvest, which is the world’s first live and trading peer-to-peer lending platform specifically focused on mortgage lending. LendInvest was spun out of the real estate investment business Montello Bridging Finance which was founded by Faes and Ian Thomas in 2008. Education Faes grew up in Australia where he trained and qualified as a solicitor specialising in corporate finance and real estate. He first moved to London in 2000 where he was a lawyer with Clifford Chance followed by in-house with Deutsche Bank. Business career LendInvest's history started as an offline short-term mortgage lender back in 2008, and in 2013 launched as a peer-to-peer lending (P2P) platform, allowing retail investors the opportunity to invest in a mortgage for the first time. In June 2015 LendInvest raised the biggest Series A funding round in UK FinTech so far, after announcing that Chinese-listed technology company, Beijing Kunlun has backed the peer-to-peer lending platform with a £22m investment. In October 2015 LendInvest reported a £3.1 million ($4.7 million) profit in the year to March, up from £1.2 million ($1.8 million) in 2014. Revenue rose from £5 million ($7.6 million) to £15 million ($23 million). Faes is an active supporter of the FinTech and PropTech sectors, and an investor in start-ups such as Seedrs and Plentific.
