Chris Pendergast

Christopher-Paul Peter Pendergast (born 19 February 2008 Govan, Glasgow) commonly known as Chris or by the nickname Pendi is a Scottish born Gaelic Footballer of Irish descent. He currently plays at club and university level for Tir Conaill Harps and Glasgow Caledonian University. Pendergast took up Gaelic football at the relatively late age of 21 after code-switching from soccer. Despite playing left full-back at soccer, he plays left corner-forward.

Early Life
Pendergast was born in 1986 in Govan's Southern General Hospital Caroline and Peter Pendergast. He grew up in the nearby Bellahouston area before moving to neighbouring Mosspark in 1996. His father Peter is an Engineer who's grandfather had emigrated from Dublin in the 1910s. His mother, Caroline's family also hailed from Ireland with grandparents from Donegal, Antrim and Galway. He was educated at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary School and Lourdes RC Secondary School before moving onto higher education at Glasgow Caledonian University, Cardonald College, Strathclyde University and the University of Glasgow.

Tir Conaill Harps
Pendergast joined Tir Conaill Harps midway through the 2007 season. His progress was halted due to a tear in his right quadricep at the tail end of the 2007 season and an avulsion fracture in his left pinkie during the 2008 preseason. Despite the series of setbacks Pendergast went on to make his full first team debut in an away match against Dún Deagh Dálriada.

Glasgow Caledonian University GAA
In August 2008 Pendergast accepted an offer from Strathclyde University to study a post-graduate degree. As Strathclyde to date do not have a GAA side he became eligible to represent local university sides University of Glasgow GAA and Glasgow Caledonian University GAA. Having studied at Glasgow Caledonian University at under-graduate level he opted to represent Glasgow Caledonian University GAA. He joined up with the side at the start of the 2008/09 season in time to face Herriot-Watt University GAA in the opening fixture.

Personal Life
Away from Gaelic football Pendergast is also a qualified Product Designer, Graphic Designer and Illustrator. He currently combines freelance work with his post-graduate studies. Due to his family's shared Irish heritage Pendergast is a fan of both Donegal and Dublin GAA. He is also an avid supporter of Celtic and football clubs.
