Chris Nichols

Chris Nichols (B. 1972) is an American professional long-distance shooter.
Biography
Nichols is a native of Virginia. He started his competitive shooting at the age of 15, competing in International Benchrest. Nichols won a number of Benchrest matches, placing as high as 4th nationally. In 2013 he won both the spring and fall competitions at the Allegheny Sniper Challenge held in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia. In the fall 2013 match, Nichols placed first over more than forty other shooters. There were over seventy shooters that took part in the spring 2013 match, in which he also placed first. In the latter, Nichols made a shot of 1,658 yards. At that distance, Nichols made a first round hit with four follow-up shots. In both matches, other competitors included active duty members of the US Military.
Nichols builds his own rifles for competition, to include loading his own ammunition. While he has shot competitively with a .300 Winchester Magnum, his preferred weapon is 7mm Winchester Short Magnum. It was with the .280 Ackley Improved that Nichols made numerous hits at the Allegheny Sniper Challenge at a distance of 1,658 yards. Nichols has auditioned for the television program Top Shot.
