Chookaluh

Chookaluh or Chukalu (Chew-Kah-Lew)
A slang word referring to something or someone that is a little bit “wild” or “crazy” in a fun loving and/or unique way. Examples of common use, “My morning hair is a little bit Chukalu ! ” or “I’m feeling Chukalu tonight!” or finally “What were you thinking? That’s totally Chukalu !”
Chukalu has also been used as an alternative name for the common box drum or cajon.
Chukalu originates from an obscure African language called Kunama which is most often spoken in Eritrea, a small country that borders Ethiopia but the term is most commonly used in Iowa city slang. In Kunama, Chukaluh is used as a child’s nickname.
