Chieu Luu is a Chinese-Canadian journalist. He is currently employed by CCTV News in Beijing, China. Previously, he worked for Al Jazeera English, as part of the original launch team in the Washington, DC broadcast centre. During that time he produced stories from across the U.S. and Canada, as well as the half-hour news documentary Kofi Annan: 10 Years at the Top, a retrospective and critical look at Annan's tenure as UN Secretary-General. He then transferred to AJE's Kuala Lumpur broadcast centre, where he was an Assistant Programme Editor until the fall of 2010. From 2001-2006, Chieu worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He produced segments for CBC News: Morning and CBC News: Today. He was also assignment editor for the live weekend newscasts on CBC Newsworld. Chieu spent a year producing Joe Schlesinger’s signature essays on the international news magazine Foreign Assignment, and also produced interviews for CBC News: Sunday. Prior to that Chieu reported and edited for newspapers in Toronto and Edmonton. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University in Toronto.
