Chicago Gifted Community Center

Chicago Gifted Community Center (or CGCC) is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of facilitating educational and emotional support for gifted children and their families. Currently, CGCC serves the city of Chicago and the surrounding metropolitan area.
History
Chicago Gifted Community Center was founded by parents of gifted children who knew there was much more that could be done to meet the needs of gifted families, and felt that a grassroots volunteer organization of parents could make a difference. The founding board members of the organization were all parents who were already active in the gifted community, running support groups, online forums, blogs, co-ops and enrichment programs for gifted in the Chicago area.
General Information
Chicago Gifted Community Center seeks to provide opportunities for Chicago area gifted kids to connect with each other in safe spaces where the unique differences derived from intellectual giftedness such as "overexcitabilities" are not only accepted but are celebrated. The organization also provides parent support in the way of networking and community seminars and workshops.
