Charmaine Chen

Charmaine Chen We Lin (born October 9, 1983) is the co-founder of Snapshots of Auckland, an online magazine aimed at promoting travel information and Kiwi-owned entities - which caused an uproar due to elements of nudity and highly controversial topics that revolve around issues pertaining to sex and politics.
Early life and education
Charmaine Chen was born in Selangor, Malaysia to parents Tony Chen (father) and Annie Lim (mother), had an early exposure to entrepreneurship. Her father was the founder of First Travel and Tours, which was subsequently acquired by the Sunway Group during the 1997 Asian economy crisis.
Chen spent her early schooling years at St Teresa Convent School (Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan St Teresa) in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. Between 1996 and 2000, Chen schooled at Taman Yarl Secondary School (Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan Taman Yarl) and Sri Sentosa Secondary School (Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan Sri Sentosa) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
She is an alumnus of Monash University. While at Monash University, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communication, majoring in Journalism and International Studies. In 2005, she won the Monash CoolCampus Award for her innovative proposal of the concept of a World Campus.
Chen then undertook graduate studies in Master of Business and Administration (Financial Management), University of Ballarat.
Chen was also actively involved in the Malaysian Red Crescent Society and Toastmasters International.
Career
Prior to founding Snapshots of Auckland, Chen was involved in the Corporate Communication aspects of Television Airtime Services Group and Stamford College.
Controversies
Snapshots of Auckland caused uproar due to its open discussion of taboo topics such as sex, politics and social issues.
