Chain of life is a cooperative team building exercise conducted on a flight of stairs or steps. It is a full contact activity. The participants sit on the steps in a line, or chain, with the number of participants depending on how many steps there are. When everyone is ready the top person will let him or herself be lifted down the flanks of the participants until they land at the bottom, to the chant of "Chain of Life". The chain is then reorganized as everyone moves up one step, allowing the last person to have been brought down the chain to sit on the bottom step ready for the next player. The exercise can continue as long as desired. This game can be seen at house parties, small gatherings or work events. Variations In some instances, players choose not to move up the steps but instead form a bundle at the bottom. In this case the game finishes with the last player to be carried down the steps. If played with friends the chant can be changed, with the word "Life" being replaced by the name of the player being carried down the stairs, eg. "Chain of Matt".
