Centre Mathiura Government Model Primary School is one of the oldest schools in Sylhet district. It is the root of formal education in Mathiura Union. It established as a formal institute at 1880. Before it established as formal school there was informal educational activities in The Taleb Mohammed Lodi Jame Mosjid since 1833 mainly Arabic and religious. At the time of its establishment it was an English medium school. Then the school management body opened another branch of the school for formal Islamic education was called M.E Madresha. After a long time continuing as a primary school the people of this locality established another branch for study higher class and that branch was called junior high school. M.E Madresha and Mathiura junior high school at present not with their mother institute. Those were decentralised for the demand time and big place. M E Madresha till continuing its activities as Mathiura Alia Madresha in Eidgah and Mathiura junior high school as Mathiura high school in Mathiura bazaar. Most interesting things is, the founder, teachers of these two institutes were the student of Mathiura Govt Model primary school. Haji Mohammed Motasin Ali Lodi was the founder secretary of the governing body of Mathiura alia Madresha. Mohammed Mosawir Lodi was the founder of Mathiura high school. Both two of them were the student of the model primary school. Almost all of the famous persons of Mathiura union were the student of this school. The first University graduate and post graduate of BeaniBazar upozilla from Aligorh University were the student of this school. The students of this school till now teaching students from primary to University very successfully. Many of the persons who did their primary study in the school now working in UK, US, Canada and other development country as professional.
