Ceasar Mestre

Ceasar Mestre (born July 17, 1962) is a councilman in Miami Lakes, Florida and a former interim mayor and vice mayor of the same.
Early life, education, and career
Mestre lived in New York during his early childhood and eventually moved to South Florida in 1973. He attended St. Thomas University where he completed a double major in Criminal Justice and Political Science. After college, Mestre became a police officer until he left to attend the University of Miami School of Law where he earned his juris doctor degree. Since then, Mestre has been the owner of his own law practice, Ceasar Mestre P.A., where he practices in the areas of family law, land use and zoning law, and civil litigation. Mestre moved into Miami Lakes in 1992.
Miami Lakes councilman
In 2008, Mestre entered a four-way race for the Miami Lakes Town Council, but was unsuccessful after coming in second. However, he later successfully challenged an incumbent during the 2010 town elections, garnering 52% of the vote. In 2014, Mestre successfully thwarted a challenge from Xiomara Pazos to his re-election earning 64% of the vote.
Since being elected councilman, Mestre has prioritized beautification, public safety, and economic development. He was twice unanimously elected by his colleagues to serve as Vice Mayor.
Interim mayor of Miami Lakes
In August of 2013, while serving as Vice Mayor, Mestre became the interim mayor of Miami Lakes following the arrest of Mayor Michael Pizzi on federal bribery charges.
After the town held special elections to choose a replacement, Mestre returned to his post as a councilman.
Candidate for mayor
Mestre has filed papers to become a candidate for mayor in the upcoming town elections.
