Cat Clyde is a Canadian songwriter and musician from Stratford,Ontario. She is on the Cinematic Music Group record label. Her debut album, Ivory Castanets, was released May 5, 2017 and included the single "Mama Said" which received over 9 million streams on Spotify. Her second album, Hunter's Trance, was released in 2019. Her country-folk sound draws on her early influences like Robert Johnson, The Mississippi Sheiks, and Lightnin' Hopkins. The Toronto Guardian described her wide-horizon sound as 'a fresh take on the classic sounds of yesteryear'. She also draws inspiration from musicians like Etta James to Janis Joplin and Lead Belly. Fader Magazine described her as a "bluesy new hope" in an interview with her prior to the release of Ivory Castanets in 2017. They praised the album which they described as "spellbinding folk songs".
