History
Castle Placement, a member of FINRA and SIPC, was founded by managing partners Richard Luftig and Ken Margolis in 2009. Castle placement was founded to, as managing partner Richard Luftig put it, "address the inefficiencies in private capital raising by using data, technology, and experienced investment bankers." It has worked to create a capital raising platform for private equity that is faster and generates better executions for companies seeking to raise equity or debt. Since 2009, the firm has raised around several billion dollars through 81 transactions through both exclusive and nonexclusive placements.
Founded in the depth of the 2008 financial crisis, Castle originally aimed to open access to private capital markets for capital raises that were especially opportunistic or contrarian. Today the firm is industry agnostic, and has raised billions of dollars for its clients in various geographies, sizes, and stages. With its database of 64,500 institutional investor/lenders Castle aims to use technology to make the capital raising process more efficient.

Capital Madness
Capital Madness is a capital raising contest sponsored by Castle Placement. Throughout the tournament, companies pitched their businesses on Castle Placement’s website, as if they were presenting to investors to raise capital. After extensive online voting, the pitches are presented to a panel of judges where a winner is decided. Notable judges hailed from Blackrock, Fortress, and KCK.
The grand prize was free access to CPGO Prime, Castle Placement’s full-service capital raising service. Semi-finalists won free exposure on the CPGO Network which provides a three-month capital listing on Castle Placement’s website.
According to Remy Arteaga, Executive Director of CUNY Startups Capital Madness was “ great place for students to test out their ideas in the marketplace. The Capital Madness competition is a terrific complement to our other new venture programs.”
Castle Placement has hosted 5 iterations of Capital Madness, partnering with WeWork, CUNY Startups, Amazon, and The University of Michigan.
