Caroline Ingraham

Caroline Clare Ingraham (born March 1960), is an author, researcher, consultant and teacher of zoopharmacognosy.
Personal
Ingraham was born in Guildford, Surrey, the youngest in a family of four. Her mother, Monica Patricia North (1928-2010) was a linguist, and her father, William Robert Winton (1926-), was an engineer and inventor. Ingraham completed her schooling at Ancaster House School in Sussex and St. Mary's Tutorial College in Guilford. She grew up with horses, a dog, and several cats. She worked first as a Cordon Bleu chef in the City of London, which took her to spend may seasons in the French Alps. At the age of 22 her interests turned towards ethics and animal welfare, which led her to a vegetarian and then, vegan lifestyle. From here she embarked on a journey of studying essential oils and researching animal self-medication.
In 1984, she married American filmmaker Bryan Caldwell Ingraham, with whom she had two children, Thomas (1988) and Madeline (1990). They divorced in 1994 and she returned to England. Her current partner is photographer Martin Stubbs.
Career
Ingraham has been researching and observing the processes of self-medication with animals for more than thirty-five years. During this time, she has worked with and given lectures to organizations and sanctuaries across the globe.
