Carol Craig

Dr. Carol Craig is an American Politician and College Professor.
Craig has worked as a public school psychologist, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Psychology faculty member, and at the Chippewa Valley Technical College. She served on the Eau Claire School Board for over two decades, from 1982 to 1994 and from 2005 to 2014. She served as president of the board since from 2008 until 2014. Craig was one of the founders of the Alliance for Strong Communities of the greater Chippewa Valley.
Dr. Craig was a public voice in opposition to Governor Scott Walker's budget reforms, stating that the legislation "jeopardizes educational opportunities for students." She was praised by many across the state including State Senator Kathleen Vinehout for "speaking the truth." Craig was also a vocal opponent regarding voucher expansion in the State of Wisconsin. Craig testified to the Wisconsin State Senate Committee for Review of the Common Core State Standards Initiative in 2013 to voice her support of common core. In 2014, Craig filed non-candidacy papers. She said after 21 years on the board it was the right time to allow others to "step forward and serve the community." Her last meeting as President was April 14, 2014. After her service on the board, Craig launched the Project 13 Initiative in the State of Wisconsin, A grassroots effort named in light of a state tax cut that lowered property taxes by an average of $13.00. Organizers of Project 13 believed the money should have been spent on education instead so they vowed to give their $13.00 back to the Eau Claire Area School District.
