Carnifern

Carniferns (carnivorous ferns) are fictional carnivorous plants. They are found on planets with a similiar atmosphere to the Earth and along a habitable zone from a solar system's parent star. Summary These plants appear in the video game SimEarth and evolve the ability to move around, and become increasingly effective predators. When found in the presence of a large number of insects, carniferns tend to evolve from them and become carnivorous, much like some plants have done on Earth. Carniferns seem to thrive best in deserts (unlike real-life plants that prosper in swamps). This is provided, however, that mammals and other life forms do not directly compete against them. In real life, the Venus Flytrap is the closest equivalent to a carnifern, albeit without free mobility or the potential for sentience. Otherwise, they never existed on the actual Earth. |
