Carly Reynolds is a fictional character in the American TV series Beverly Hills, 90210, played by Hilary Swank.
Season 8
Carly Reynolds is a single mother who first meets Steve at a soccer game in which Kelly's sister Erin is playing. He criticizes her for being overprotective of her six-year-old son Zach; she is insulted at his interference. Steve later makes thing worse when a conflict between Carly and Steve's date gets Carly fired from her waitress job.
After he returns from a disastrous trip to Hawaii to support Donna's first job as a professional fashion designer, which ends with Kelly getting shot in the parking lot of LAX, Steve manages to change Carly's attitude towards him after he talks Nat into hiring her at the Peach Pit. They begin a romantic relationship that is cut short when her estranged father suffers a heart attack and she decides to move back to her native Montana with Zach. Steve later admits to Brandon that if he had truly loved her, he would have moved with her.
Departure from Beverly Hills, 90210
Carly's storyline was reportedly cut short after viewers responded poorly to Swank's character. However, this gave her the opportunity to portray Brandon Teena in the film ', a performance that won her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
