Cardiff City FC Futsal Club, formerly known as Cardiff Cymru Futsal Club, founded on 6 August 2010, is the first Welsh Futsal club to be affiliated by both the Football Association of Wales & the South Wales Football Association. The club is the first Welsh representative to compete in the FA Futsal League. The team competes in the Midlands Division and home matches are played at the @Futsal Centre in Cardiff. The first team squad includes players of various nationalities as many of the players are recruited from the University of South Wales' student community and other players from the Cardiff area, many of whom play recreationally at the Cardiff branch of @Futsal Ltd. Non Playing Staff Coach: Kevin Green Coach: Matthew Croft 2012/2013 first team squad 2010/11 Season FA National League Midlands Conference In Cardiff's first game of the season it suffered a 13-1 home defeat at the hands of Chippenham Futsal Club. Cardiff continued to struggle in its second game falling to Team Bath Futsal Club 8-0 away from home. Cardiff's second away game of the season saw it travel to Hereford Futsal Club, where the team was on the end of an 8-1 defeat despite periods of good play. Cardiff returned home for the fourth game of the campaign, against Loughborough Futsal Club, still looking for its first points. Loughborough showed their experience though throughout and ran out eventual 7-2 winners. Cardiff continued at home for their game against Hereford Futsal Club, where an enthralling 7-7 draw saw Cardiff record the first points of their season. This moved them off the bottom of the table with one point. Following Cardiff's first point of the season, the visit of bottom of the table Newbury Futsal Club gave hope. A very close encounter saw Cardiff edged out late-on in a 6-7 defeat, and left Cardiff back on the bottom of the table at the halfway stage of the season. As the second half of the season got underway Cardiff travelled to Chippenham Futsal Club looking to improve on their first result of the season against the same team. Cardiff started well going head but let their lead slip before half time. Chippenham continued to show their experience into the second half and completed an 11-5 victory. Cardiff continued their season against top of the league, Team United Birmingham, and met stiff competition. Cardiff held out well for a long spell in the 1st half but in the second half goals started to flow and Team United Birmingham won the game 8-3. Cardiff picked up their first win of the season when they travelled to play Newbury Futsal Club. After taking a first half lead, the second half was a tight affair with goals being traded until Cardiff won 8-7. After their first win of the season Cardiff travelled away to Loughborough Futsal Club. Despite their Cardiff's momentum, Loughborough proved to be far too clinical throughout and won 7-0. Cardiff travelled to Team United Birmingham Futsal Club for the last away game of the season looking for their second win of the season, but they proved too strong winning 8-0. Cardiff's final game of the season saw the visit of Team Bath Futsal Club. Looking to record their second win of the season, Cardiff entered the game with confidence but inexperience cost them as Team Bath clinched a 7-0 win to round off their season in style. Cardiff were drawn in a tough group playing the Welsh Premier League Champions, Llanelli FC, in the First game. Cardiff Cymru managed to overcome Llanelli 5-3, with Captain Jonny Nelson grabbing a brace. In the second game, Cardiff Cymru played Coleg Sir Gar. Cardiff played a very good tempo of futsal throughout the game, recording an 8-1 win. The final game saw Cardiff Cymru play Valencia CF Legends, a team made of local 11 a side players who play futsal recreationally at the @Futsal Centre in Cardiff. The Cymru went 4-0 up within the first ten minutes. Ashley Park and Louis Gerrard were the stars of the show for the Cymru outfit, playing an outstanding one-two to carve open the Valencia defence to make it 4-0. Valencia started to fight back, and the score at half time was 5-2 to Cymru. With tensions high, Valencia clawed their way back into the game, and at 5-4 with a minute remaining, pushed for the draw. Cymru managed to hold out with some astute tactical awareness from Keith Ellis, winning the game 5-4 and winning the group, qualifying for the National Finals day. The team progressed to the FAW Futsal Cup National Finals, held at the @Futsal Centre in Cardiff 5 June 2011. The Cymru qualified with CSKA Talybont, Cardiff University, Merthyr Town from the South Qualifiers. The New Saints, Pentmaenmawr, GAP Connahs Quay and Llandudno Town make up the Final 8, qualifying from the Northern Qualifiers respectively. Cardiff's second season was a slight improvement on the first, however the club went a long way in aiding the Welsh national futsal side with their support and representatives. Cardiff recorded a 7-3 away victory against Loughborough University on 20/11/11. Cardiff massacred Team Newbury Futsal Club on 08/01/12 with a massive 20-3 away victory..
