Captain obvious

Captain Obvious is a term used on someone that states something that is very plain and obvious to everyone around or the audience at which he or she is stating the fact to. (He who states obvious facts).
Example
. It is -10 degrees F outside and you and a group of friends are walking to the movies, and one friend says "It is really cold outside." You or a friend could say "thank you captain obvious" because without the friend making a statement of it being cold outside you might have missed the fact that it was in fact, cold outside.
This term is very closely connected with the english fallacy term Begging the question or Circular Reasoning. Both terms are in as well as many english books.
