Cane Pecoraio Varbutu

The Cane Pecoraio Varbutu (in Sicilian cani varbutu picurariscu or varbuteddu) is an Italian dog breed from the island of Sicily. It is on the verge of extinction.
Origin
The breed is mainly found in the Agrigentine part of the Monti Sicani: especially in communes of San Giovanni Gemini, Cammarata, Santo Stefano Quisquina, and Bivona. It is used both as a livestock guardian and flock drover.
Appearance
The coat is smooth, of medium length, and weatherproof. Hair forms a beard around the muzzle and on the dewlap. The basic colour is black, but the area of the "beard" is white.
