'Candidate led recruitment' or 'candidate driven recruitment' market is a model where recruitment is driven by the demands of the candidate. Candidates are in short supply and vacancies are in abundance. In this situation employers find it difficult to recruit and retain staff as there are lots of alternative jobs on the market. Simply put, there is not enough talent in the market to satisfy demand. Employers will often not receive any suitable applications to job advertisements. It is in the employers’ best interest to offer the best environment, career and training prospects, working conditions and terms as is possible in order to secure staff. Employers need to move quickly in such a market in order to secure staff. Benefits for recruiters It is not in the recruiters’ interest (i.e. recruitment business) to offer discounted fees in this market, as they gain nothing from being ‘promised’ the next vacancy. The recruiter only finds that they have more ‘job orders’ than they can handle and not enough candidates to satisfy demand. Naturally, Recruiters will work with the scarcer commodity - the candidate. Benefits for candidates This is a great market for candidates. If candidate has experience or qualifications that are in high demand then such candidate can pick and choose who, where and what he/she wants to work for. This is as close as candidates can get to writing their own contract. Candidates have to choose a recruiter that they ‘click’ with and one that is passionate about getting their CV in front of as many suitable opportunities as possible. Recruiters will work harder for candidates if they agree to stay with them ‘exclusively’. That way they are guaranteed results if they deliver the opportunities to candidates. Perhaps agree to working with one recruiter exclusively for an agreed time limit. Candidates have to think carefully about what they want from their next move. Some industries are only able to offer salaries within a certain range due to nationalised limitations such as Nursing or Teaching. Those professionals need to negotiate for other benefits other than salary. <ref name10Candidate/> <ref nameNew/>
