Callum James Baillie (25 Dec. 1990 - ) is an Australian musician, writer, poet, social critic and yogi. Since having completed his NSW Higher School Certificate in late 2008, Baillie has become a prominent figure in the Armidale music scene, serving as vocalist, lead guitarist and songwriter for the rock band Emesis. The band's first single DF is played frequently on local FM radio and, along with fellow band members Adam Kearl (bass), Robert Delarue (drums) and Tom Hall (guitar), Emesis often tours around NSW. The band has won praise by many critics for spreading the unique blend of alternative rock, jazz, and heavy metal that had been developing in the New England area over the past decade to previously untouched parts of the world. Baillie is also often praised for his 'tantalisingly unique' lyrics and powerful performances onstage. The band is currently settled in Orange, where the band plans to independently release its debut album, It's Harder Without You. On top of his musical pursuits, Baillie is also an avid writer, with his short story about a gap year working in the local factory recently becoming one of 29 winners in annual Heywire competition, which encourages regional youth to 'tell it like it is'. “This year was a really good year for me, I had to put it into words...It was a complete slap in the face. You really are spoonfed at school, so hitting the workforce was my first taste of the real world.”
